FF.net question ("guest reviews")

I've had acceptance of anonymous reviews disabled for years at FF.net. Twice now in the last month, I've gotten "guest" reviews. One user actually input their FF.net user name in the field w/o signing in. Most recently, though, someone submitted one just with Guest.

Anyone know if this is new? Do I have to go in and disable this type of review, too? One would think if I don't accept Anonymous reviews I wouldn't guest ones either. Maybe that's too logical. I don't know.

I have them disabled cuz years ago I had a stalker leaving obscenities as reviews so I disabled that function. And until now, never had problem with anything slipping through cracks.

Tips? Information?

Thanks,
Susan/apckrfan

they have updated teh review function... i;m not certain for the better.

signed in people can definitely review (if you don't have the review function blocked)

but there's this new function in place that allows you to 'approve'/'deny' comments that's in place... and I think it has a time frame on it... i.e. they might be automatically approved if you don't approve/deny them manually w/in a given time frame.

i've approved a few 'guest' or 'guest with name' comments from this screen and it always says 'you've speed approved' or 'quick approved' comments.... which leads me to believe there's an automatic approval function in place behind it?

the bad thing is that the guest with name that i approved, i couldn't respond to... i.e. the 'reply' bubble was missing.... and dang it, that's the one i wanted to reply to (i reply to them all, but that one i specifically wanted to reply to)

good luck and.... go pack go!

Ah yeah, that explains it. I guess I didn't notice the directions to go to the website and approve or reject it. I guess it's not so bad then, at least they're giving you the ability to reject it.

Sorry can't help you, since I am an AO3 girl. I found this though:

Previously, users might have lost some valuable guest reviews by enabling the 'Disable AnonymousReviews' feature. 'Disable Anonymous Reviews' settings is now a toggle for anonymous reviews moderation. The way it works is if"Anonymous Reviews Moderation" is enabled, anonymous or guest comments will be in a moderation queue for36 hours during which authors can remove or fast-approve the comment. If after 36 hours and no action is taken, the anonymous comments are slow-approved and enters the system. We believe this new moderation feature gives authors the control they want without lossing potential comments. Please note anonymous comments can still be removed by authors after the the slow-approve 36 hour window.

Might be the reason why you now have guest reviews

Thanks so much! That helped for sure.

I've been slowly adding my stuff to AO3, but it's taking me a while. I have close to 250 stories, and I went through and re-read each and every one of them so I could proof them once more before posting them there. I try not to spam the live feed, so it's taking me a while to get everything there.

Thanks again!
