A Major Fangirl Squee!
My 5 year old reminded me today was the first Wednesday of the month and, therefore, comic store day. As I work tonight I *almost* didn't go because it was late already for me to get a sufficient nap in, but I decided to go ahead and do it.

In addition to my comics, I had these gifts waiting for me courtesy of the owner who wanted them to go to a good home, someone he knew would love them and appreciate them.

Can I say how much I love living in Fargo and dealing with a small comic store? Like I'd have had a chance in hell of getting these in Chicago or New York or whatever. Yeah, right.

These are panels from before Season 8 was launched sent to comic book stores.

Sorry for the glare in the pic, there's nowhere in my house really conducive to taking a pic of something covered in plastic, but I'll try and get a better shot.

Oh cool :squints: The second to the left is Willow, isn't it? Where are you going to hang those? Did you get anything else at the comic store. I have read a ton of graphic novels in the last couple of weeks thanks to my very amazing library =)

Yes, it's Willow. Left to right:
Buffy, Willow & Melaka Fray, Melaka Fray & Melaka's older sister (Erin) & twin brother (Harth)

The coolest thing about it - I think Fray might just be my favorite Joss character of all time. So, how nifty is it that I chanced on two original panels containing her!

As far as hanging them. I don't know! I'll have to figure that out. Other than some sports memorabilia and a T-shirt autographed by Adam Baldwin, I don't have many things that are collectibles to this extent. They'll sit on top of my desk until I find a more appropriate permanent place for them.

ETA: I got the latest Buffy & Angel comics as well as the latest Stephen King Dark Tower. I don't get a lot of stuff: Angel, Anita Blake, Buffy, Dresden Files, anything by Stephen King, anything Joss, the Runaways - and there's an upcoming X-Files/30 Days of Night and some Fringe comics which I'll be getting. I'd like to delve into the Witchblade comics, but there are so many I wouldn't know where to start!

I only like the early Witchblabe stuff when Michael Turner was still working for Top Cow. I also used to love "Fathom". I have so far only read the books and never any of the comics BUT I own all audio books read by James Masters :gggggg: If there was ever a big screen adaption then I want James Masters as Harry ^_^

Most of the stuff I read nowadays are graphic novels or comics that are a bit more brainy or artsy:
Im Museum by Jan-Frederik Bandel and Sascha Hommer
Le Codex Angélique by Thierry Gloris, Mikael Bourgouin and Marcel Le Comte
La Théorie du Grain de Sable by Benoît Peeters and François Schuiten (steampunkish and goregous)
Siegfried by Alex Alice
Arrival by Shaun Tan which is probably one of the most gorgeous graphic novels ever

I don't know whether or not you guys on the other side of the pond also have European stuff but those books are worth checking out, when you like great stories with amazin art. Just google Shaun Tan and you will see what I mean =)

I was totally surprised. I guess it's nice to know I've made such a positive impression on the owner that he thought of me, surely I can't be the only Buffy fan who comes in there (in fact, I know I'm not cuz 2 of my friends go there too).

It's been a rather bummer of a couple of weeks for me personally, so this just absolutely brightened my day when I really needed it.

I guess there are rainbows in grey skies every once in a while!
